So you have – or are in the process of obtaining – your dream pool. Congratulations! As a dedicated pool owner, you will need to keep an eye out for a few issues that can arise, even while enjoying the bliss of a backyard getaway. Don’t worry; most of these have quick fixes that you can do yourself.
My Filter is Full of Leaves, Twigs and Rubber Ducks
Does your filter seem unusually full? If it does, be glad – that means it is doing its job. To prevent that debris from cluttering your sparkling pool, however, a regular cleaning may be necessary. If your pool has a cartridge-type filter, follow this three-step process to clean it. First, rinse off visible dirt using a normal garden hose (spray nozzles may actually drive the dirt deeper into the filter). Second, soak the filter in an alkaline-based cleaning solution overnight. Lastly, thoroughly rinse the filter and replace it in the pool. Voila! A clean pool and a thrifty pool owner.
My Pool Water is Brown and Murky
If you are afraid to touch the bottom of the pool because of a murky film, it is probably less sinister than it seems. When your pool’s pH balance is off, murky water may appear. This color may be exacerbated by the quality and quantity of rain in your area as well. Acid rain will alter the pH concentration in your pool. To clear the pool of any murk, simply perform a pH test and alter the chemical concentration accordingly.
These two common problems for pool owners are easily tackled by regular pool service. If you are ever in need of assistance, don’t hesitate to contact Advanced Pools & Spa. Their experienced professionals will know just how to help with any pool repairs or services.
