It is only natural to hop on board the “going green” train, now that we know just how devastating our impact can be on the environment. In this day and age, any effort counts towards the long run, so here are some tips for you pool owners on staying green all year long.
Make Your Chlorine Last Longer: Believe it or not, but within three hours, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can destroy chlorine that is added to your pool during the day. The best thing to do is to add your chlorine at night and add a stabilizer agent to make it last longer.
Heat Your Pool Less By Covering It: Adding a cover such as a bubble tarp not only eliminates evaporation, but can raise the temperature of the pool’s water by 10 degrees. Throwing a cover over your pool when it’s not in use will benefit you the next time you think of taking a late night swim.
Plant Next To Your Pool: Putting plants in around your pool is more beneficial than you may think. Not only do the plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air and produce wonderful and breathable air, but they can also eliminate evaporation when your pool is in use.
Recycle All Containers: Yes, this is kind of a no-brainer when it comes to the recycling world. Almost all pool products and supplies come in some kind of a plastic bottle or container. As always, we should be vigilant in all aspects to do our part in building a better future. When it comes to pool chemical containers such as chlorine, always rinse the bottle at least three times to clear away dangerous liquids, most preferably in the pool itself since chlorine is already in there.
